[#2603074]

Can someone advise on the different types of Rockshox Forks there are out there?

Need some advice on what to buy for new Cotic Soul arriving soon, I have up to £400 to spend going to be using it mainly for single track stuff do nothing stupid.

need to buy from CRC as I have some vouchers to get rid of.

There seems to be an array of different rockshox forks out there and don't where they all sit in terms of which is best.

Any advice appreciated.

As the Cotic is a long-travel hardtail, then I'd be looking at something like the Sektor.

is Sektor behind revelations & reba's in terms of spec?

best in what sense?

Models?: Rl->RLT ->RLT Ti
Tora's are better than Darts
(model dependant) Recon's are better then Tora's
(model dependant) Reba's are better than Recon's
(model dependant) Rev's are better than Sektors

But there's overlapping between the travel/fork ranges... so what are you looking for?

Oh and sorry to be really annoying but Merlin tend to have better deal on RS forks than CRC (IME).

If it has to be CRC then you could try 2011 Reba RLT at £420 if you want 120mm travel, 2010 Revelation Race for £400 if you want 140mm?

I have just put 150mm sektors on my enduro and they are streets ahead of the 2004 talas's they replaced if that's any help. Saying that the fox's have had their day tbh but definitely ahead in terms of stiffness.

I should have added I'm not one for fiddling as not the most technically minded so ideally want to fit and forget. I am sat with a load of vouchers so that's why CRC and not Merlin.

Its quite simple, you've got three different axles
-QR
-15mm
-20mm
then you've got three different steerer sizes
- 1 1/8
- 1 1/8 - 1.5 tapered
- 1.5
2 steerer materials
- alu
- steel
5 fork models
- Tora
- Recon
- Reba
- sektor
- Rev
Then what damping do you want?
- Rlt
- Rlt ti
- world cup
- xx
Then what sort of lockout?
- turnkey
- hydraulic
Then how much travel?
- 120
- 150
SPring type
- coil
- u-turn coil
- air
- u-turn air
- dual position air
Then do you want a remote?
- no
- poplock
- push lock
- xx hydraulic.

... i give up now.

the good thing is they've standardised the brake mount, its always post mount now (except on the frame, where it could be IS or post)

Ok, I'm going to be using the Cotic for mostly singletrack moorland rides. Not sure whether I need maxle or not. Travel, don't think I really need anything more than 120mm.

And Horatio, thanks for the clarification!!!

Reba rl for that money.

Solo air 2011 is a lot better than before. But dual air Reba with that budget will be better than recon solo air
