I stopped wearing a helmet and bike clothes for commuting, seemed like i was getting given more room. I'm pretty sure GWs carrier bag suggestion would work too.

Forgot to wear my helmet on my commute today...
...and I died and am writing this from the beyond. Good internet connection here, and the computer room is empty cause everyone's gone off to listen to Diana give one of her dreary talks about how she saved those landmines from being blown up.
