I ride verderers and freeminer a fair bit but would like to link to dowies.
Any maps or gps files to help.
Thanks
Find the footy pitch in Ellwood. Just behind it are various starts. Vaguely trend right on worn narrow tracks but don't cross anything that is car wide until you hit hard gravel. Then go up the gravel 'til near the very top and hang left until you hit a fence. Continuation is to the left bringing you out at the pottery.
Many minor variations all do much the same.
It's on google maps
Or use an OS map.
.
Have a look at The Fountain Inn website they have loads of maps available.
There is not much available as the forestry commission like to remove anything promoting the unofficial.
Found this though ๐

If you're local I could show you some time
I might be being a bit thick her but...
Is there a way of getting a gpx (or similar) from the google routes shown? The Fountain Inn and bigh's routes look good, but I'd like to plot them out on an OS map somehow.
Cheers.
More than happy to show you round .
Thanks for all the routes / advice
I will have an explore over Christmas.
Thanks for the offers of showing me around, i may take you up on these in the new year.
The fountain used to have laods of routes, but I can't find them. ๐ฅ

3 or 4 routes there, none take in Dowies etc, still good though
jimster, these ones:?
Afraid not, they have the four on their website, but you used to be able to access all the Fountain's routes on google maps like "Bigh" has shown.
It also had the Killer loop on it and some other's has said, perhaps the FC requested them be removed.
Ah yes I think I remember something like that showing where all the Dowies runs were, Murdocks etc with descriptions. There was a link to it on an old STW thread from a few years back IIRC.
