I've recently fitted some 685 Shimano STI levers and they have a big void where the body meets the bar and the hose exits, just where the back of hand is. I like the hood to blend into the bar so was looking for a good material that won't permanently compress to use to fill in the gap which can be moulded or cut and is easily obtained.
Silicone occurred to me or cutting up a camping mat but any left field / wonder material suggestions?
Sugru maybe?
thanks, that sugru looks like it might work so I've ordered some. I guess I can line the bars and lever with some clingfilm so it doesn't actually glue itself to the bike as it sets. I tried some closed cell foam but it just compresses down too easily.
Have you tried the sticky black neoprene sheet that is used for insulating copper pipes and stuff on solar panels and ACs?
