Shame as it seemed a well stocked shop when I visited.

I'm surprised it lasted as long as it did TBH. Alva doesn't strike me as an ideal location for a 'proper' bike shop.

Hmm TBh this does not surprise me.
I bought bike from them in 2012, it was a good bike for the money, but a few bits were not correct, the response I got from the owner was barking mad, he just lost his rag over the whole thing. I had to get the importer to intervene, who were brilliant. They insisted on building the bike before sending it, which delayed matters. Despite my assurances that I would be able to do a good job. Luckily I checked everything as their "build" was terrible, loose bolts, badly fitted brakes. cables. Crap gear adjustment, a nipped up seal on the bottom bracket, and a too tight seat clamp for the reverb. All in the service was crapo and the owner appeared to be mental..

Plenty of chat about it on TrailScotland. I bought 2 adults and 2 kids bikes and serviced others there from 2010-2013 was happy to support them till it changed hands in 2013 and Dougie the mechanic left. He's now at Edin bike co-op.

That's a shame - it seemed like it had really taken off (no pun intended) when I last visited. They seemed to have loads of stock and some good deals. Was planning on buying my next bike from them too...

Alva was a magic place for a bike shop, with the trails available on the doorstep.
Unfortunately, the new owner appears to have been less interested in being one of the good guys than the previous owner. A damn shame.
