I would recommend Chatel - This place in particular. I didnt care for Les marmottes (although no major problems per se) but this place is close to town (walking) and a short cycling to the downhill park. The lift in Chatel takes you over to Morzine so you can be there in no time at all.

I was there for a week last year. Wifi is dodgy but the showers were great. What more does one need?

I don't know of any proper sites near Morzine but the supermarket car park is very hospitable. It's where you'll find the cool kids.

wysiwyg - you may have got unlucky as I remember spending an afternoon in front of the computer watching le Tour from my deck chair in the sun and sipping on a few Brasserie Mont Blanc Blondes.

There's a good campsite in Montriond. Good price, clean shower area and a 10 minute ride to morzine (on a DH bike). Stayed there for the last 5 years
