Looking for a set of single speed road wheels with a flipflop rear hub. Any recommendations for something light and sprightly? Don't really want an aero section rim which seems to be popular at the moment with the fashion conscious ss brigade...
goldtec hubs are the nicest. on one aren't bad for cheapness.
then pick a rim. i went with cxp22s on my last build as they were cheaper than open sports dead happy with them.
I had this problem - the majority of fixie/singlespeed road wheels are deep rimmed aero sections with equally numb nutted hubs, that weigh a ton.
I've bought some of these Tensile Pro Track/Fixie Hubs
Doesn't look like they're selling them on ebay at the momentn tho.
I plan to get them built onto some normal Mavic rims when I can afford it.
Give Harry Rowland a call. I have a pair of Miche Primato low flange hubs (not Flip-flop as I only ride fixed), with Sapim spokes and Mavic Open Pro rims. Beautifully made, packaged and delivered. Not the cheapest (£287), but they are lovely, strong and reasonably light. I have ridden over 2000 miles of commuting and club rides, including some big pothole interfaces. You may get a lower spoke count with other hubs (goldtec for example), but I wanted low flange for a more road, rather than track look.
