Have we done this yet?

Looks like a stronger idea than the Huck Norris but a bit heavier.
Seems to be made of the same stuff as theBib Mousse i used to us in my Enduro bikes years ago.
I'd give it a go in the rear tyre for uplift days if there was a UK distributor.

At approx 275g per tyre, that's over 3 times as heavy as the Huck Norris.

Gravity days only I should think.

Got your Fastforward yet?

Still waiting for the ****ing tracking number. ๐Ÿ™„
I did actually manage to speak to Bernd about it today though.
Which is a step in the right direction as he's promised me he is "motivated to get it shipped" ๐Ÿ˜†

Do you think that means they actually have them?

They have them but there's been a problem with the none black frames.
Most of the clear coat and translucent ones are so badly finished they can't send them out.
I had ordered a raw finish but I've said I'll have a black instead.
Not really bothered what colour it is.
I just want to ride it not look at it. ๐Ÿ™‚

Oh. That's interesting. It's not hard to refinish a steel frame I'd have thought.

So it's a foam pro-core then?

So..
Huck Norris, Light-Works ok-Expensive
Pro Core, Heavier-Works better-Expensive
Defender, Very heavy-Works very well-Expensive.
I see a theme here..

If you were going to just run them for uplift days/DH races then wouldn't you just use a swimming noodle/piece of pipe lagging?

Derailing your thread, i've wondered why only black was available on the Last website, might drop them a mail and see if they would sell me a badly finished one and get it sprayed here...

Lots of comments on Pinkbike about swimming noodles.

I imagine Last are currently arguing with their supplier and would not honour a warranty with a home respray

LAst aren't too intersted in warranty support for the shitty finishes on bikes they've already sold either.

Let me know how you get on Burchy, I was thinking the same thing.

So, significantly heavier and even more expensive than the already way too expensive Huck Norris. I'm out.

Justin Leov used them all of last season on EWS races, feedback I heard was that they were decent, certainly not fool proof and heavy - but he's a serial wheel destroyer so....

Burnd did tell me that if I wanted to get the black frame refinished it would still be covered by warranty.
Mind you he still hasn't sent me a tracking number so I'm not sure I believe him. ๐Ÿ˜
I asked if a could still have a raw frame anyway and the answer was no.I recon they'll just send them back to the manufacturer.
Back on topic.
Those swimming noodles just look like pipe lagging.
If the FTD is made of the same stuff as a Mousse which I would think it is it's way denser than normal foam. Kind of like a cross between solid rubber and foam.

What you want is EPP (expanded polypropylene). But it's a bugger to get hold of.
