I currently have a set of Nike 6.0's but looking for another set of shoes, will shoes like the Shimano AM40/41 or Five Tens offer noticeably more grip???
I found the AM40s to be very grippy but the sole hasn't lasted very long - about 4 months. I still use them though.
Can't comment on Five Tens however.
I have both Shimano am40's and 5.10 freeriders and rate them both highly, the shimano's have similar grip to my old nike 6.0's possibly a bit grippier and the 5.10's have noticeably more grip. I find the shimano's have sufficient grip and have been great quality wise, the 41's look even better. If you want noticeably more grip than the 6.0's then go 5.10. If you just want a more mtb orientated shoe then go shimano, i think the quality of the shimano's are better.
defo 5 tens i have a pair of 5 tens with the sunline v-one pedals and they stick like sh*t to a blanket ;p
5-10's! have a pair and love them!! They are super sticky, only drawback is that when you need to move your feet on the pedals you have to take your feet off completely and reaffix! Then again on the positive side I haven't had holes in the back of my legs from the spikes on DMRs for a while!
