Been using Nukeproof Electron pedals have gone through 2 pairs pretty quickly. They just seem to take a knock and they are doomed!

After some cheapish flats. DMR V12’s maybe?

Superstar Nano's.

Use code 20MAY18 and get them for £39.99

Test rode a bike with Superstar Nano's and couldn't really tell the difference between them and my DMR Vaults, so I would recommend the Nano's too.

Can’t believe this forum still doesn’t work properly with an Ipad!!

Was going to add to my previous post that you can get the plastic flats if you want to go cheaper, they’re hardly any different.

Also very interested in people's views.

I definitely want a pedal with a concave centre as I bought some Superstar ones and they didn't feel at all comfortable.

I'm now trying to decide whether to get DMR V12 magnesiums, Spank Spoons or the more spendy DMR Vaults?

Has anyone got any views on any of these?

I've got Superstar and Carbon Cycle - the Superstar are better.

As a slight aside, if the Nukeproofs were knackered in such a short time I'd be looking at returning them.  I've just bought a pair of Neutron Evos, fingers crossed..

I've got the superstars (well, superstar, left side only!) and it seems excellent. Well made, wide but shallow, and has taken a few rock strikes without affecting the finish.

DMR vaults here on 2 bikes , incredibly grippy with Five Ten shoes and have been durable so far , oldest pair is just about a year old . Usually find V12's have play in the bearings pretty early on but that doesn't seem to get any worse over time . Apart from the grip the Vaults look really bling , if that kind of thing matters to you . As the finish is anodised you aren't chipping paint off them with every pedal strike and mine still look as good as new . Heard good things about the Nukeproof pedals from other riders so perhaps you have just been unlucky .

I’ve had the Nukeproof electrons for 3 years and they’re still going strong. Strange you’ve gone through two quickly as I was going to suggest these pedals!

Currently clipped in now on Nukeproof CL and they have taken an absolute bashing but still feel new.

V12s seem small after using Vaults.

The newer plastic Horizons are pretty tough ime- the Electrons I had looked mauled after just a few rides but the Horizons have survived some incredibly stupid pedal strikes better than I have. They're not 500g aluminium pedal tough but they're everyday solid

So would people choose the Nano X Evo (£39.99) over DMR V12 Mags (£47.99)?

I only have 50 notes so the Vaults are a no go!

Serial flat pedal buyer here. Got vaults and V12's, like them both. Vaults on the big bike for ultimate grip, V12's on the hardtail because there smaller shape means I feel I can wrap my feet around them a bit better to hoik the bike around. Like them both.

Plastic Nukeproof Horizons.

They are a lighter, better, more durable version of my Vaults.

And being plastic, they actually stay black forever.

I have been using Nukeproof Electrons - no idea how the V12 Mags differ in size!

Edit - found it.

Nukeproof are 98 x 95

DMR V12 are 115 x 95

Superstar are 101 x 110

Are V12 Mags worth the extra £13 over the alloy ones?

2x plastic Nukeproof Electrons.

1x Superstar Nano

1x Exotic/Carbon Cycles (exactly the same as the Superstar).

They all do their job as they are supposed to. I'd recommend all of the above.

Another vote for the Carbon cycles exotic pedals. Not wildly expensive, feel good quality out of the box, run for a year on my Enduro bike - survived rock strikes / general abuse fine. Still look good as they are anodised rather than painted and the bearings are still smooth and with no play. Haven’t had to do any maintenance - and with 5-10’s they’ve got a ludicrous amount of grip.

Had Nukeproof Electrons for a couple of years, probably did around 2500 miles on them. Still look good and haven't touched them service wise. They are on my singlespeed now and bearings are still good.

Bought Vaults after. Way more grip and the larger platform is excellent. Find it hard now when I get on other people's bikes with smaller platforms, and I have small feet.

However, I've had to replace the Vault bushes 3 times in just over 18 months. The official DMR kits are a joke price. Fitted a metal bush now which I got for about 60p each. Hopefully they won't eat the axle but I'm sick of faffing around with plastic ones.

As the finish is anodised you aren’t chipping paint off them with every pedal strike and mine still look as good as new .

My Vaults looked like crap after about 10 rides. The paint didn't chip off but just wore away.

I think some colours are ano and some are painted? And the magnesium ones I think are all painted.

TBH I think the only thing my vaults do better than my horizons is the size, but I don't really care about that. if you've got size 15s or you just like big pedals for foot placement or whatever then it's a bonus for sure.

Or, put this another way, I have plastic Horizons on 2 bikes. and ancient mag/ti nanos on the third, my vaults are in a spares box because I can't be arsed to do yet another full rebuild. Those nanos have had one rebuild kit (which cost me £7 IIRC) but have probably done 50 times as much riding as the vaults did before needing one, no joke.

Nano's here, excellent pedal with loads of grip, pins go in from the back and they give you a ton of them in the box.

Also ...... lots of colours!

I have Vaults on one bike and Nukeproof Horizon Pro on the other, The Horizons are my preference.  With Freeeriders they are awesome with impacts there is more grip but less feel.

I have the plastic version of the carbon cycles ones. Cheap, light, still have replaceable metal pins so plenty of grip

Not had a long term test yet but I like them. Ugly logo though.

+1 plastic Nukeproofs.  Run them for years on both my bikes, all year round  Tough, light, grippy and cheap as chips.  Fancy pedals are basically a waste of dosh unless you like fixing stuff, or rarely ride in winter/mud.

I have two pairs of Vaults, I picked them both up second hand for £50 each pair.

The first set had to have a bearing and bush change after 3 years, the other set after 2 years.

They are the only pedal i like the feel of under foot.

Can't stand the convex axle of the superstar nano's

Nukeproof Electrons +1

A year on my bike and they've managed to survive smashing into a treestump on Saturday a lot better than my foot did + innumerable previous pedal strikes on rocks/bad landings etc.

I might try a set of the Nano's too. I was going for some V12's as I can get them locally but now I have some electrons there is no rush!

Are the Silver Nan's still painted? Silver does sound boring but I think they will go best with the Trek!

I’m now trying to decide whether to get DMR V12 magnesiums, Spank Spoons or the more spendy DMR Vaults?

Vaults are worth the money; the ones on my trail bike are due a rebuild after two years and the ones on my Demo are a bit battered (low BB = lots of rock strikes). They feel great under foot and offer loads of grip with 5 10's.

I had Spank Spikes which were grippy but the sealing was a joke and they'd seize after a wet ride.

The original Nano's were good in terms of longevity but they didn't feel as nice underfoot as the Vaults. I've not tried the later ones though.

I guess the most important question is which colour pedals?! Lol

Currently have some blue ones on the silver trek but as I have put my carbon Renthals on I know have a bit of gold to contend with!!!

Silver bike with  silver pedals or stick with the blue?

Not really colour coded anything bar the mud guard having blue on it and there is the blue top caps on both sides of the fork!

What’s the difference between the Nukeproof Electon and Horizon? I can see the plastic pins are in different places and the Horizon looks to be a tad thicker, but other than that?

I was shopping around for new flat pedals recently, considered the cheaper Nukeproof ones but my local Go Outdoors didn't have any.

I was then torn between the Exotic alloy or Superstar Nano X Evo. I went with the superstar ones in the end as l like that they're UK made, serviceable and review well. Early impressions are good levels of grip and I like the shape. At £40 in their current sale they seem like good value, even if they're not the cheapest out there.

Just put some DMR V12 Magnesiums on my bike.

They're light, grippy and very similar in looks, size and price to Wellgo MG1's.

I'll find out tomorrow at BPW just how they perform?

The only nagging in my head is whether they should be 10mm wider?

Another vote for the Nano X Evo - I always recommend them to my friends whenever Superstar run an offer.

We have Nanos on 4 family bikes at the moment, including my wife's gravel bike - and we had a fifth pair on my son's old MTB which has just gone to a new home. My original pair of Nanos are 7 years old and still going strong, but the newest thru-pin versions are the best yet and come complete with plenty of spare pins.

If I was buying right now, I'd get Superstar, what with their 25% off discount code. (Probably only got pink left by now)
