I know they didn't use to be true to size.

I am a 10 in both Adidas or Nike.

Should I order 10 in Kestrel?

Thanks.

Obviously YMMV, but I wear a 46/11 in most shoes and I've got both Impact Pros and Kestrels in 46 and they fit just fine.
My feet are pretty average width, etc. so if you have really wide feet you might need to size up.

Thanks both. I am only buying new ones 😂 so I am trying to compare to other brands. If you're 10.5, what are you in Adidas or Nike please?

Don't have any Nike or Adidas but 10 in Crank Bros if thats any help. Tried five tens on in a shop and ten was too small and eleven to big so went with CB in size ten. Then looked at Evans sale and realized they did half sizes so bought some five ten EPS and they fitted well plenty of room in toe area so on the back of that bought kestrals and sleuths . I think that will be enough for now.

Great timing I wore my new Kestrels for the first time yesterday.
I always buy based on Eu size as it seems more consistent. I got the 44 and I think they’re try to size… except they have a fairly narrow toe so they are more comfortable with the laces very loose. I would go up .5 if you have wide feet.

Thanks for all the feedback. I went for 10 in the end as I am also assuming there is a certain uniformity within Adidas. I only use Adidas for tennis (I got through 3 pairs a year) and 10 is perfect for me including in width so with a bit of luck. They're only £35 landed so if the wrong size I'll re order and sell on the 10s in the summer I guess.

I'm normally a 10 - I've ordered the Kestrels in 10 and 10.5 to try em out. Will send back the wrong size. At those prices and bit of return postage doesn't hurt.

I am a size 9.5 or 10 in normal shoes and had to get 11 in the Kestrels.

They are still slightly snug as well.

10 in a normal shoe, 11 in 5:10's.

The 11's I bought in a Kestrel Boa fit well - I've a narrow foot though.

I got Kestrel Boa’s from the original Evans PSA in a size 10 (listed as EU 44.7). I’m normally more of a 9.5/44 in most other footwear (not bought Adidas or Nike for a while though), mainly due to foot width rather than length.

I'd say they come up a little snug on width (for me), Hence going half a size up suited me.
I suspect the fit is based on Adidas' standard fit so if you have a normal adidas size it's probably not a bad starting point.

So I’m a size 9.5uk in adidas running shoes/trainers is it safe to get a 44 in these? Will only use them with normal summer socks not thick merino etc

I went up half a size from what I usually wear and they fit me fine . They are the wettest shoes I've ever owned . stand in the slightest bit of water and your feet are wet . I mite have to put silicone in the cleat area .

I think the widest part of my foot is 98mm.

10 UK is 44 2/3 officially so I guess 9.5 is 44.

But as others have pointed out it depends on width too. I might have got away with "true sizing" because I have narrow feet.

Possibly a stoopid question, but bought a pair of these from Evans to try clipped in again and wondered if they will work with any type of spd pedals?

i.e. spd and / or spd-sl ?

I only wear flats normally, so not an expert on spds

Spd-sl is road which uses a three bolt mount in a triangle pattern and the cleats are massive plastic things.

SPD is mtb which is a 2 bolt pattern and the cleats are small metal thing.

I just stood on a Ruler (very scientific) and would say I come out at 110mm at the widest part of my foot.

Should probably measure circumference, but I'm already getting odd looks in the office...

as I said before UK10 (EU 44.7) suited me based on width, so the UK 9.5 (EU 44.2) may suit a narrower foot.

If I stand on a ruler they're 110mm because that generates squashiness where I previously measured them in the air with calipers 😂.

Maybe I need to go on a foot diet?

Does anyone know how the Freerider Pros or Sleuths size up compared to the standard Freeriders? They look narrower.

definitely narrower as I bought a pair of the sleuths and they were too narrow for me, the 510 XTs are narrower but not as narrow as the sleuth and kestrel.

as for the kestrels, returned mine to Evans today, 510 sizing is just all over the place across their range. I’m a 46 in 510 freerirders always have been and the freeriders are really comfy, they are my go to shoe for biking.

kestrels in a 46, I can hardly get either foot into the damn shoe. It’s like a completely rigid narrow shoe, bonkers. Evans do have the black kestrels back in stock again. These are narrower than the 46 XT’s I have.

i do normally need wide fit shoes, but the kestrels are really narrow. IMVHO.

Yep, got the 10.5 size Kestrels today and they're just about ok. No thick socks though!

Normally a 10 in shoes, not even going to bother trying those on, but will keep the 10.5. Almost wish they weren't so cheap cos Specialized 2FOs look much better and fit better.

Adidas, for a massively successful company, do a shit job of getting shoe sizes right.

I've had 3 pairs and the most recent ones are baggy around the ankles and fill up with dirt.

Anyone want these 10.5 Kestrels for £30 posted, save me sending them back? Still brand new.
