The bushes on my rockshox lyrik's have become sloppy and need to be replaced, but I'm short of cash at the mo and would prefer not to spend £100 plus on servicing if I can help it.
So has anyone on here changed bushes themselves? How difficult is it? What tools did you use?
I usually service my own forks (lower lube service, change seals, oil levels etc.)
It should be relatively easy to fashion removal and insertion tools. It depends how much of a home bodger you are.
The trick will be making it out of decent enough materials to do the job without failing.
Hi Bagstard, it's not really a job you can do at home due to the tooling needed and the possiblity of knackering the lowers and /or bush kit if it goes wrong.
I can change them for you as you say you do your own servicing so I could just do the bushings, drop me a mail for more details.
Sounds good LoCo, I will do that.
I asked windwave about DIY'ing some marzocchi's, the answer was, its easy enough, if you either buy the tools or have a lathe to make them on, but the potential for f***ing up is quite high (one knock too far and the bushing drops into the bottom of the lowers never to return).
