I also have one of these -

And am currently trying to fit a shimano xt centre lock disc rotor to a shimano xt rear hub.
However when inserting either of the tools, the inside of the tool hits the wheel axle before it can inserted far enough to engage with the teeth on the splined lockring - if the splined part of the tool was longer by about 2cm there'd be no problem - as it is it won't reach.
Any ideas on how to secure the lockring? - don't really want to have to take apart the hub as it's brand new, plus I'll prob break it.

old style cassette tools are too shallow. 👿 And if you undo the cones to use it, it will be very hard to get them to go back together nicely especially on the rear hub.

Still, it works for shimano/sram singlespeed converter lockrings so you can always flog the other two to fund it.
