Looking at the 2018 fox forks on sale at the minute but really can’t decide between the two different damper options on the performance (GRIP) and performance elite (FIT4) versions.

I currently own a set of 2017 34 rhythm forks with the GRIP damper and I have no complaints about its performance but my experience with the fit4 is limited to a couple of hours spent on a demo bike late last year. From memory the FIT4 was at least as good as the GRIP damper one the trails I rode on (the shiny new Hightower it was attached to may have helped with the positive reaction to it) but does anyone out there have any more experience comparing the two units? If so which would you go for, assuming the price difference was negligible.

Just gone through the same dilemma for my new HT too. Built up my new FS the other week, one ride on the FIT4 damper and I upgraded to GRIP2... Have ordered a GRIP fork for my HT, the lack of adjustment doesn't worry me but when you read into how and why it works compared to the FIT4 damper, it was convincing enough for me (as someone who's a real suspension snob!) to give it a go...

I have a 150mm FIT4 on my fs and 120mm ĢRIP on my hardtail so not easy to compare but I am very happy with both as they both work well for me. I am no suspension guru so would say get the cheaper one 😁

Grip2 8days a week. The amount of adjustment is awsome to get a perfect feeling fork.

Grip is like a good Marzzochi damper. Love it.

Pro Elite are lighter though (both the damper and the chassis), if weight bothers you.

Grip2 currently for the rich, and longer travel only.

Agreed... But it's fahhhhking expensive!!!

For a 2nd bike...? I decided I'd be happy to make do with GRIP.

haha. Correct.
Have a 130mm 29er Grip, a 150 mm 27.5 Grip boost and 150 mm 27.5 Fit4 fork.
All 34 mm stanchions.
They are all fine. The Grip ones more plush in my opinion. Progression great on all three. You are able to run them with decent sag and still have the impression of "limitless" travel.

So fit4 versus grip, (not grip2) worth the expense
That fox 36 29er 140mm versus my fox 34 rhythm grip 130mm

Added bonus is black Stanton’s and good resale value of a presented rhythm
