Both my boys loved their Frogs. Don’t be led to believe that they are significantly inferior to islabikes. I think they are slightly heavier but are also sturdier; this was a definite plus point with my youngest, who isn’t kind to mechanical things... Resale value however may make the islabike a more sensible financial decision, providing you can maintain the bike in saleable condition; chips, scrapes etc to a minimum.

Early Rider Belter if you can find one.

Light, simple, brilliant.

Looks amazing, too.

Little Miss CFH's one here. About to be passed down to The Boy, as it happens.

I like the early rider but think hes a little small for a 16" bike unfortunately .. Maybe for christmas and i will look on ebay for a frog for now !

If it's a short term thing if he's likely to change sizes soon have you looked into something like:

https://www.thebikeclub.co/

I've not used them or but works out at about £8 odd a month by the looks of it.

Loving my Daughters Frog 48, I will admit however to not paying attention to the fact they make 2 sizes of 16" wheeled bikes, the 43 would have been a better fit, but she loves riding it.

I'd personally buy S/H, I still paid £180 for a near-mint spotty one (they seem to cost a bit more) which is only £70 cheaper than new, but I dare say in 18 months time I'll sell it for near what I bought it for.

Little note about the CNOC's if you are buying second hand.

We have the CNOC 14. Served the boy very well and now my daughter is gaining all sorts of confidence on it. It is red, a few years old not but it still looks like a little jewel under the mud an dust.

Friend of mine bought a second hand a few years ago. It was a little older, how much I don't know but a lot heavier.

The older one is still top rate bike for kids, don't get me wrong but if you are trying several and expect them all to be the same, they are not.

I bought 2 x Cnoc 16s on ebay for my twin daughters a few years ago.  Both were great and I sold one for £5 less than I bought it for and the other for more than I paid 2 years later.  I now have 2x Beinn 20 Large.

If resale is a consideration, Islabike is the way to go in my view.  Frogg are good bikes but resale isn't quite as good.
