bwaarp I'd say you should just stop being prejudiced and thick.

My guess is you won't, and beyond the above, I am not biting.

Hope your mummy tucks you up nice tonight.

I'd say you should stop being such a cry baby in response to what was a bit of a troll.

There is no Ampney Coln... nowhere has that place name - it's a ward for local government. Also, the B4425 isn't that narrow

Pedant mode off...

Is the mans life on the bike (could have quite easily fallen off and given himself a fatal head injury) worth more than the drivers being held up and or the saving the foxes lives that the whackos in the car were so intent on doing.

See, animal rights misanthropy. They enjoyed seeing the man assaulted because he's connected to the hunt. His life is of less value to them than heroically saving a smelly ginger dog. Leading to my main point which is that they are sick in the head.

And I reserve my right to be a totally closed minded jerk towards these people because humanity spent the past 10,000 years+ being natures bitch. Where were our rights when a sabre tooth decided to eat us? Where were our rights when hyenas came in the night and stole children? Where were our rights when we suffered the bubonic plague? Where were our rights when the environment decided to crap our on us and ruin out crops leading our brothers to starve to death?

What moral obligations do we hold to those animals/environmental factors that hold no moral obligations to us? The only moral obligation we have is preserving the planet and it's ecosystem is to support humanity at a sustainable level. That is it.

Surely the clever reaction (wiht hindsight of course) would have been to get out of the following vehicle jog on in front of the bike then walk very slowly til either the bike and cyclist fell over or crashed into the walker from behind.
Beat him at his own rather clever game.

Even with the full video, there's clearly some story missing: the old guy is trying to stop them getting past. That's either because he's trying to stop them as hunt monitors or because they provoked him and we've not seen that bit...

In that situation I reckon any car would roll down the windows and ask to pass and / or give a beep. Where is that in the video?! The fact that that section is missing leads me to think it did happen but the car occupants were a bit heavy handed with it and riled the guy.

@ traffic law experts:

What view would the rozzers take of the cyclist's actions? Can't be right to impede traffic and not let it pass?

Technically, careless cycling (due to him not showing consideration for other road users).

Practically, stop him for a minute, the cars drive past, tell him not to be an arse, leave it at that.

TBF druid, I reckon he was winning a Sportiv at the time.

I wonder how many cyclists never break that law?

Rule 168
Being overtaken. If a driver is trying to overtake you, maintain a steady course and speed, slowing down if necessary to let the vehicle pass. Never obstruct drivers who wish to pass.

Could be all sort of fun and games with that one!

I thought it was against the law to obstruct the highway?

Also, rule 68 is "Rides are to be measured by quality, not quantity." Isn't it?

It still does not excuse assault. Kicking and punching someone is all well and good if you get assaulted first, doing so when she had other options such as blocking him and bringing him to a stop in a controlled fashion is quite frankly disgusting.

You should never find yourself hating someone so much you are willing to risk their life over something as trivial as this.

They should both get community service, with the bird getting considerably more for assault.

Go on? Is this because of tangling with an animal rights protester outside a lab I was getting work experience with? I know a lot of friends who research in Oxbridge who get death threats from animal rights types, this bloke was masked. Surrounded by his mates. Perfectly within my right to defend myself.

I know students who have been stalked to and from their homes at night by these people.

PETA et al are nothing more than terrorist organizations.

No need to shout.

I like country pursuits and I expect most people on this forum also do, given that they are mountain bikers, and ride IN THE COUNTRY. What I do not like is the killing of animals for other peoples pleasure.

I also live in the country and have notices more Audis here than in the city that I lived in until a few years ago. Although, I am not really sure what cars have to do with it.

however if they are doing it as a valid vermin control method (again legal) this is ok?

The law is badly written and widely flouted. Hunts still carry on as much as ever and its still nothing to do with killing vermin although that is often the excuse. Its all about killing things for fun.

well what happens when lorry drivers have a go slow on the motorway, are they allowed to do that? Are we allowed to drag them out of their cabs and give them a good shoeing for slowing us down?

As v666 says it's an assault on a human being, he may have wound them up and yes I'd have found it damned annoying too but you can't go round smacking people cause they annoy you.

v666ern - I wasn't condoning ninja bird attacking wellie man just saying that to post she was with the hunt monitors and ergo: all hunt monitors are blood thirsty maniacs was incorrect.

still don't let that get in the way of a good shout ๐Ÿ˜‰

couldnt agree more

how would you like the vermin to be controlled, do we just have none to see what happens...as a shotgun license holder, which i do as sport, i can tell you that vermin control costs a hell of a lot and it goes on unnoticed..without it the county would be a lot different

dressing up in red jackets and having a big game of "catch me if you can" with the foxes isn't about vermin control is it? I'm no expert I've no idea if foxes need to be controlled and if they do what the most humane way of dealing with them is. I can however see through a flimsy excuse.

i can tell you that vermin control costs a hell of a lot
well if you need a dozen horse and riders and a pack of dogs yes costs will add up, those diddy trumpet mustn't be cheap

sorry my point was that if mr and mrs hamilton-boyce the third and chums arent controlling fox numbers, then who is...if it gets passed onto shooting bodies how long til shooting is banned...then from there whose going to pick up the tab...cos mr tax payer would rightly rather have a nurse than vermin control?

I don't think people necessarily have a problem with controlling populations of foxes/rats/ants or whatever.

I think what a lot of people do find odd/objectionable is treating the killing of creatures as a fun day out for all the family.

Also, when the people doing it are challenged and act a bit baffled when asked 'Hang on isn't there a better way we coudl do this in the 21st century?'. I really don't see that 'just because we always have' is any reason to carry on with a particular activity.

+1 this, but until someone suggests a cost effective way, i dont see the point of hunt sabs following hunts and becoming confrontational and aggressive to other people

be nice everyone, have a hug!

They do. They get to have a fight. Sometimes they even get to have real fun (all in the name of animal welfare, of course) like spraying mace in a horse's face, or cutting the ears of foxhounds, no need for any proper surgery or anasthetic obviously, to disguise the tattoo makring in there. Vile little scrotes.

I think the point is that Police don't have resources to follow hunts so the AR lot do it.

I don't believe all AR folk behave as above - what's your evidence? OR is it just anecdote?
