Glorious morning this morning. I could not see wild garlic but I could damn well smell it, so these pics will have to be here instead of the challenge thread 😂 also random green 'parrot' flying free in Whitley Bay 🤷🏼‍♂️

Picked the camper up yesterday after having to have a new engine fitted so decided to carry on and have a long weekend in the Peak. Not a cloud in the sky and dusty trails.

Spent the last few months working on a pumptrack event, well UK qualifier for world champs. To try and spread the love we had a kids event Saturday. So I've done one lap of the pumptrack but we had a cracking day.
I'm surviving on grumpiness and caffeine while try to be nice to volunteers who ask the same question 4 times and still don't do what their asked.

A 70 km gravel/tarmac ride on my day off in Lapland. Gonna be warm today (22°C) and this week which should get rid of the last remaining snow pockets… and bring out the flies!

35 km of this

Forest roads… miles of them

Mandatory log pile shot

Log piles

The bridge marked about halfway…

I rode Hamsterley on Saturday for the first time since 2017, crazy how much its changed and how the trails have become a bit more wild than I remember. Went off a few drops I only remember being a half a foot or so and was met with an extra foot or more on the drop straight into rutted out rock gardens which I don't remember being there! Some of the berms were quite sketchy as well very dry with gravel over them so nearly lost the front end a few times too, massively different to my usual woodland off piste riding I do locally, have missed riding jumps though they were great fun.

All in all though had a great time and a chap started riding with me who was giving me support me on the climbs up which helped a lot, doubt he's on here but if you are, thanks buddy! Only started riding again in October last year and I'm carrying a lot of lock down weight, I put 5 stone on and I'm currently sat around 305lbs, the route I done on Saturday is the longest ride with the most climbing I've done since getting back on the bike. However on the climb up to descend bike park and section 13 I bonked out, had to embarrassingly push up to the top and riding section 13 and the rest of the red was painful as I just had nothing left in the tank.

A tour of some Shropshire lanes and bridleways on my singlespeed.
Having fitted a new 34t chainring and 18t sprocket the night before, this looked like good advice.

And this one was a bit overgrown.

I had to dodge a downpour at one point 🙂

Absolutely standard mate, don't beat yourself up. I haven't cleaned that climb in years! It's a bloody long way up from that bottom road.

Had planned to finally get back on the MTB today. Even prepped the bike yesterday as it had sat unused for a few months - lubed, checked tyres (a bit soft so pumped back up to pressure).

Got out the garage today to ride and rear tyre was totally and mysteriously flat, so ended up spinning out on the road bike again. Maybe next time...
