I am running a X1 M8000 drivetrain and wanted to slightly increase the range.

- I have just changed my 500 miles old 11-42 cassette for a 10-42 SRAM XG-1150 as I got new wheels (On-one WTB I25+rattlesnake) with a XD driver. I am very surprised how much of an improvement to shifting this has made. Much more positive, smooth and instant, like Shimano used to be basically. The shift to the 42 in particular is amazing. I didn't shorten the chain.

- I have also bought an oval Oneup Component in 30t to replace the 32. Not fitted it yet as I have some questions:
1- with the above 10t upgrade, would dropping an other 2t mean the chain is likely to need shortening ?
2 - do the cranks arms need to come out ? (I assume so)
3 - I have a SRAM powerlink on the Shimano chain - can this be undone by hand ?

Thanks

Nick
