[#9491562]

I know I keep asking this but I am actually going to buy some now. How do these compare?

WTB Nine Line
WTB Nano
Maxxis Crosswalk
Maxxis Ikon
Something else

Needs to be 29x2.1, fast, tubeless ready, for Ridgeway type riding and £25 or thereabouts pref on special offer 🙂

Cool.

I'm confused though. In Schwalbe tyres, Evo means Evolution? So they are tubeless ready?

If you want fast, don't buy Maxxis (except an Aspen). Crossmark is slooow, not tried an Ikon, but on drum tests it also shows as slow.

Thunder Burt or Ralph in 2.1 Snakeskin.
Xking 2.2 Protection is also only really a 2.1

Thunder burts look quick esp for road sections, but looks like the rons would be more useful in a wider range of conditions and according to the RR tests is not much slower.

Hmm. Rocket Rons only available in 29x2.1 apparenly not 2.25. Given the thread about wider tyres, not sure this is a good thing?

Well, I've gone with Ralphs because they have closer spaced treads and they were available in 2.35. Will be handy cos it's a rigid bike. 2.1s just seemed so small.

I've got 26x2.25 Nobby Nic front and Racing Ralph 26x2.1 rear (both Performance, tubed) on my old featherweight XC hardtail. It certainly doesn't feel draggy.

The Racing Ralph looks barely any narrower than the 2.35 High Roller 1 on another bike with wider rims.

Rons, Ralph's, thunderburts are all available in 2.1
Specialised ground control, fast track the same
Bontrager XR2 or XR1
Max is ikon, ardent race, cross Mark, aspen
All the above are all fast/fastish XC tyres, I always use top of range tubeless ready ones as compounds are a lot better

Specialized FastTrak are good and cheap, £23 an end at quite a few places.

They're decent for most hard pack and summer non gnarrr riding.

Ordered the Ralphs. Not sure what compound Specialized use but I've just had a hell of a time on a pair of Ground Controls in the wet. Roots and rocks are properly treacherous. I don't remember Ralphs on my 26er XC being like that.
