[#3116376]

Was out on a road run yesterday and saw quite a few new trails up adjacent to the backroad that runs from High Bonnybridge into High Falkirk past the battle of Falkirk monument.

There have always been loads of rights of way up here but when did these new trails appear? and are they any good?

Looks promising for linking up lots of rights of way with the new made trails. Anyone on here ride in this area?

when you say trails what do you mean, there is several miles of newish 6ft wide grey gravel stuff in the area or have you seen something a bit more interesting. i think a lot of it was put in about the time the falkirk wheel opened.

There's a couple of wee loops of singletracky green-blue grade stuff, good enough fun but really short. its all signed from the new (i think) car park and links up with all the other paths mentioned above

edit to add a pic:

Opened a couple of months ago - their website is here: http://www.callendarestate.co.uk/EZ/ce/ce/index.php
http://www.bespoke-scotland.co.uk/index_files/Page457.htm

Information a bit disjointed at the moment...

As downgrade mentioned, it's 2 loops of about 4k each - nothing too challenging, but good for a quick spin. Family friendly too, so if you've got kids they'll enjoy it. I've been 4 or 5 times now - they've expanded a couple of the trails in that time already, so looking good for eventually building up into something more substantial. There's apparently plans are to have something like 75k multi use paths and abour 25-30k bike specific stuff apparently.

thanks fellas - those are the ones.

Haven't ridden an mtb up there for 4 or 5 years - used to do the right of way up from Allandale under the railway then go along the minor road the the ROW that cuts all the way down to the Union Canal/Wheel. Quite techy in places from what I remember but a pal now lives in Bonnybridge and told me there is masses of other stuff to ride up past Rough Castle, etc.

Looks good for some winter blasts and, as you say, family riding as well.

Need to dig out the mtb I think - cheers folks
