I have a ragley big wig with Rock shox reba 120mm 29er forks up front and wondered if I noticed an extra 20mm travel with some pikes ? £600 seems a lot for 20mm ? What's your thoughts . I do go away to the peaks and exmoor type riding , and BPW was hard going yesterday .

Cheers Richie

Its not just the extra travel, Pikes are stiffer and have better damping than Rebas.

Yes I did think they might have better damping 🙂

I would save your £600 towards a mail order full suspension bike in the future. Fit a bigger volume front tyre for now. Reba's aren't a bad fork anyway.

Depends how hard you ride, i found Rebas at 100mm far too flexy on a 29er for me. Like a twangy twang thing.

A bigger tyre isnt going to increase stiffness.

When you say that BPW felt hard going, what specifically felt hard going?

It's was on the black runs at the bottom , just felt everything and quite slow , then again it is a hardtail

I find the slower I ride affects how much goes through the bike, so

just felt everything and quite slow

Could be a self-fulfilling prophecy.

A hardtail is going to rattle you a lot more than a full sus, and as above, if that's the case - a bigger tyre could really help.

The damping on the Pike is a lot better than the RCT3 on the Reba, or the older carts.
