Exmoor, what a delight

Admittedly helped by great weather but a few days walking, road riding and gravel riding lead to tired legs.ย

All absolutely fantastic. The road riding was an unexpected delight. Based near Exford the roads were quiet and the drivers I met were all super respectful. I know there will be exceptions but they all avoided me. Makes a change from the roads of Lancashire and Greater Manchester.ย

Yes it's nice round Exford 🙂

Does feel like everything is uphill from there though!

Did you make it to the top of Dunkery Beacon? Amazing views - you can see for 50+ miles on a clear day.

Whatever bike you have there's great riding on Exmoor.

I lived in Lynton and Ilfracombe for a couple of years.

There are loads of really quiet lovely lanes, admittedly with big hills but with beautiful views.

Plus there's lot's of good mountain bike riding just off the roads.

Simonsbath and Exford are at the heart of the moor and surrounded by fantastic riding :o)

The road riding is good but quite limited. The climb over Dunkery is my commute!

I loved Exmoor, the Quantocks and the country between when I lived in Somerset. I have cheap train tickets to Scotland booked for mid-May, but if the weather's no good Somerset is the back up plan - and I'm starting to think I might just go for the Somerset option anyway.
