Found a wheel set on Evans website at discounted price, result!
Phone them up to check they've got them in stock, 7 in stock, cool.
Throw family in the car drive over there, not exactly local but not a major mission.
Walk up to the counter to purchase the wheels, still in stock.
Wait a while for the shop assistant to come over and say they are no longer available, we can't find them.
No point in or having a go at the shop staff, it wasn't his fault so have a look through available stock an nothing come close, head home empty handed.
Type in said wheel set a week later, in stock-FULL PRICE!!
Not cool.

Why didn't you order them online for collection?
Because they still wouldn't have been there.
It's a stock error; they can't sell you what they don't have, even if they think they do.
Yes but they would find that out when they tried to get the order ready for collection and instead of emailing to say the order is ready they would say sorry we have a problem. At least that's what I'd hope, it would save a wasted trip

Worth still buying if it says there's stock online. I've had some great deals when a retailer is out of stock and offers an alternative product. Worst that happens is you get your money back.
