Anyone know anything about Engineer Tools? Look like they make screw removal pliers which might be a handy thing to have given my ineptitude...

I have one of their solder suckers (SS-03), one of the best constructed tools I've ever owned. So smooth

Wouldn't hesitate to own any of their other gear if I needed it

Why did you have to show me that site? WHY?

Dear gods, the tools. The precision... I need so many of them.

I bought some of their scissors last year. Short ones rather than long and I like them.

Knipex Twingrip have been good for me.  Not had them anywhere near a bike though

I find the Engineer locking pliers with screw removing jaws more useful than the Knipex twingrips

Conversely, I find C.JET scissors better than the Engineer version above

Engineer has hard plastic handles, whereas C.JET have soft rubber grips and confidently cut through plastic, card and such like without leaving imprints in my fingers when cutting through more than they were developed for

I bought a pair of those from a recommendation on here and they're  a lovely thing.  They've were unused for more than a year and then it had a 'I've got a tool that will deal with that moment'.

K is really keen to return to Japan after our few days in Tokyo a decade back. Partly for the food and culture, but mainly for the tool shops.

if you want Japanese tools worth looking at https://zenmarket.jp/en/ - you can buy from Japanese shops and auction sites and they package it up and send it to you as one bundle and handle all the tax.  worked out very cheap for some silky saws and blades.

Those screw removal pliers look just the job, there seem to be 3 models, could anyone suggest which would be best for general bike fasteners?

Oh they look good, the molgrip type clamping would be great in places where the bulk isn’t an issue

The scissors are fantastic. Had some in my eBay list for years after seeing a review. Finally bought some and they're great. Actually they're in my bag with me at work!

Now we've established they're good this is a question I'd like to know the answer to as well. I assume if it's mainly for removing rounded out bolts (as opposed to general pliering) it's the PZ-22 Screw Eaters?

I see they also do a load of screw extractors…

Just a +1, they make good stuff, not hugely expensive, also not junk. I too have a solder sucker of theirs and whilst solder suckers are basically terrible objects, the Engineer one is brilliant. No idea why, just is.

I think you'll find that you can buy from Amazon (if you're okay with that).

I have a pair of the smaller (I think) Engineer screw removal pliers, plus a pair of the knipex twin grip pliers, although in a much bigger size. They're both very nice tools
