Hi!

Looking for a new bike and I'm not sure which one to go for. Struggling to decide between the Specialized enduro comp and the Lapierre Spicy 316. Anyone got either of these bikes that can offer any words of wisdom???

Thanks

Steve

I've owned both and prefer the enduro, it's a more playful bike IMHO.
Easier to haul round tight switchbacks and easier to flick about in the air. The spicy is more stable feeling though.
Next years spicy will move more towards the enduro in handling due to lower bb and shorter chainstays.

Lapiere bug me as they won't sell a frame set but only full builds which I didn't want.

Both great bikes though and you can't go wrong with either but they do different things, ultimately depends what and how you ride. Should be possible to get test rides easy enough.

I loved my 2010 Enduro in the Alps a few weeks back. Well sorted frame. I was a bit nervous of changing from my coil equipped 2006 enduro to the air shock on the 2010 but it was excellent (RP23BV) and I needn't have worried. Changed frames a couple of weeks before the Alps holiday!

I usually ride a hardtail in the UK so like to pick my way through rougher stuff. On the enduro found myself taking this approach until the speed built up to such an extent I couldn't cope so pointed it down hill, any way I cared to point it, and it just went for it, with me on board.

Makes things rather easy but in the Alps, I loved it. Frame is astonishingly light.

I have an enduro and my mate has a spicy. The enduro is better going dh and a more fun bike, but the spicy is a tad better uphill I found.

Does anyone know when specialized will be releasing their 2012 line?

They're slowly coming through now. Seems roadie stuff first looking at the Specialized Concept Store website. Looking forward to see what the Stumpy Evo models bring in terms of spec and price.

I had the same options and decided (again) on the enduro, this is my third. I love em! The Lyriks on the comp are bit dive prone, so worth upgrading with a mission control damper rod, which then gives you a better fork imo than the Spicy's Float r. No problems with rest of components, although could do with slightly wider rims to support big tyres.
