Anyone ever replaced the rear shock and worked out how the hell to hold the two bushings (that aren't bushings) at each side of the seat stay pivot in place whist you get the shock eyelet back into position between them?
Driving me insane!
Hi.
Have you swapped a 5th element for a Fox shock?
I stuck the long handle of a 6mm allen key in there to roughly hold everything in place, then just wiggle bits as required to get the pivot back in.
I use an allen key, was given the tip from the local bike shop
Another way to do it is to load everything up with the bolt in place through the bushings that aren't bushings and the shock eyelet, but not in the frame. Then drop the whole thing into the frame mounts and slowly and gently remove the bolt. The whole assembly should then just lower into place.
what you need to do is buy a spare/replacement bolt and washer kit (different from the Spesh bearing kit). then you have 2 bolts, so you can put one in from each side. Hold the two bits on each side together with a blob of grease and mount them on the end of the bolt each side. Then manouver the shock into place and tap one bolt all the way through.
Makes life a LOT easier
