Looking for something to replace an original Gore Phantom. Is this it?
Is it too warm? Is it OK in the rain? Anything else I should know?
Ta
I replaced a Gore Phantom with one.
Really like mine - great for cold/dry(ish) and wet/mild(ish). Comes into it's own if the weather's showery or drizzly. Don't expect it to keep all the water out though - if it's cold and proper wet I'd still use a proper waterproof.
Nice big reflective bits on it too for intentional night rides and misjudged short winter days!
Fantastic jacket but not a full softshell, it's only got a softshell front, the back is just fleecy so if it's properly wet, the water just goes through it. Great for cold dry winter days though, loads of reflective piping and flashes, a zip up rear pocket and it's nicely warm but well vented too.
Ta for the replies. Sounds good. Also looking at the Convert soft-shell but worried I'll boil. Anyone got any experience?
Really liking mine. I reckon a full shell in that material would be way too hot out of the time whereas this lets you cool (and perspire) through the roundish bits.
Fine in a shower as well as the front, shoulders and top of arms are all soft shell.
