Today, while struggling with a set of grips that were tighter than the proverbial, I was thinking about what biking inventions save massive amounts of time but are so simple it's surprising nobody thought of them sooner.
I'll start with
Lock-on grips
Split crown races
Powerlinks
What does anyone else think?
al
2-bolt brake levers (shifter manufacturers please take note)
salsa flipoff seat collars
wheels
poo
Maxle
Adjustable height seat posts
Those inner tube thingies. Just think, no more faffing about fitting nipple adaptors into the rim, no more coating the tyre bead in soap(or threads on how to seat tubeless)and pumping like the clappers, and no more pouring expensive messy gloop over the kitchen floor, and if you puncture then you pull it out and put another in then fix it in the comfort of your own home.Sheer brilliance.
(Cue barrage of irate replies from tubeless users without understanding of "tongue in cheek")

QR full stop - wheels & seatpost.
Tubeless i guess, initial faffage pays off over and over again.
Elegant:
OS Mapping
centrelock rotors
and from the "anti elegant" camp
Chainring bolts
HTII BBs
deraillieurs (dont care how effective they are, wrenching a chain off a cog & forcing it onto another using wires and a couple of paralleograms can never be called elegant)
