Does anyone know the difference between Eggbeater MXRs and Eggbeater Cs? I normally use SLs but was planning on buying a couple of cheaper sets for hack bikes I've picked up over the winter. Has anyone any experience with either?

you can't rebuild MXR's which with eggbeaters is a bit of a disadvantage...

C's are the same as SL's except for the material of the spring.

Hi there,
As wwaswas says you cannot rebuild MXR's - they have also been discontinued.

Egg SL's are cast from stainless steel where Egg C's are stamped from carbon steel. All parts of SL's are stainless steel but on C's there is a combination of carbon steel, chromoly and stainless. The springs are the same material on both.

It may be worth holding out for the EggBeater SC which is somewhere between the two and looks pretty sweet.

They're a good budget pedal, the MXR, but mine eventually died and I've now got the slightly heavier but rebuildable C.
