Yes I did have some farts but I mean external wind 😉

Did this ride on Sunday - I reckon the wind was in my face for all of the outbound and by the time I got to the max elevation I was shattered. The wind speed was probably 10mph gusting to say 15mph so nothing massive but I found it very draining?

On one recent road ride I was struggling into a strong headwind doing around 9 mph, after an hour or so I gave up & turned around & was instantly pedalling easily at 30 mph - boy did that feel good 🙂

IIRC at 20mph 90% of your effort is against the wind, so even a 10mph wind is significant.

Similar sort of draining effect as mud, did a ride round the local reservoir yesterday, too 3:15. The same ride last year with no mud: 2:45.

Fun, though 🙂

FR I've done a road race with a head-wind such that a gradual climb was done at walking speed...and I finshed in the top 10!

@ Dave - I am sure the first you noticed it you were coughing and gagging and she was giggling?

Had the same on a road ride with a mate on Saturday,he's got one of those fancy power taps things & said he was pushing 25watts less when drafting me.Also on a descent into the wind I was pushing like hell to keep 25-30 mph & he was pretty much free wheeling behind me..... 😐

Hmm interesting - 25 Watts sounds less than I would have thought for drafting (maybe a mispreconception 😉 )
