My daughters at uni in Edinburgh and is thinking of joining this club. She's very much a beginner but keen to learn, is this a good place to be?

Aye I'd suggest the uni club.

On or off-road?

No experience of the road club, but a bit put off by stories of their relentless and fast-paced group rides (even the easy ones).

Off road, there are some decent folk for sure, but the core are a bit cliquey. There's an easy going beginners ride every Saturday morning. 10am from Westgarth Avenue I think.

Alternatively (and probably better) there's an Edinburgh Uni cycling club which I think caters for all.

There's also loads of us on here that ride in and around Edinburgh if she's really stuck.

Hands off ๐Ÿ™‚

off road

She's been a bit intimidated by the Napier club, needs a beginner friendly bunch.

Crewlie - The EUCC are a good bunch, have been riding skills rides etc for beginners recently. Definitely get her to look them up.

Always found the ERC to be a bit too big and horrendously cleaky.

If she is interested, we are going to be doing a "beginner-friendly" ride this coming Sunday (8th November). Just ironing out details now, but likely to be heading to East Lothian and back. We are hoping that this will be the first in a winter series, aiming to keep it sociable and inclusive and involving coffee and cake at some point.
