My mum, just under 5', is looking at an ebike now that she's nearer 70. Been looking at islabikes but the MTB is probably a bit on the big side. The road bike looks like it'd fit but she's put off a bit by the narrow tyres. Does any body have either, wondering if she could get away with the MTB as it looks like you could get the saddle quite low down or if she could fit slightly fatter tyres in the road bike. It's only for gentle road, cycle path, tame track use.

Does she have a bike already? use a decent quality add on kit. the one I use is under £700 and works brilliantly

Liv e-bikes come in XS sizing, waiting for the 2021 stock to come in for my vertically challenged girlfriend.

Make sure the step through is low enough for her. I got one for my mum last year - she is also over 70 and about 5 foot tall - which is fine when she is on it but she finds the step through a bit higher than is comfortable.

Apparently 5 foot high women don't just swing their leg over the back wheel to get on the saddle.

Hi

There are some designs like this now (Off-road Step thrus)

https://moustachebikes.com/en/electric-bikes/samedi-27-off/samedi-27-off-2-open/

And have a look at kids bike as a lot of companies are adding these to their range (26 wheels)

I’m not recommending moustache it’s just that my mrs is 4ft 10 and I’ve had a look round and they have a localish dealer so I’m aware of their range

Scott do a kids bike, haibike do a 13.5 framed Ladies ebike and a kid ebike.

I also should have said that weight is a consideration as it will be going on the rack on the back of their motorhome which is a good couple of feet off the ground. Can't see any weights for the Liv or moustache bikes which all look quite chunky. I think a step through frame is a good idea which rules out converting her old bike and cost isn't a major consideration.

Keeping an eye on this - MrsMC is 4'10 and disabled. Took me an age to persuade her to try the Pinnacle Kauri which she loved, but now considering something similar in ebike form - needs to be small, lightish and low step through

FYI step thrus

Light is a problem just now 21kg is light I’m afraid

Fazua stuff may be slightly lighter but kids bike have smaller battery’s 300wh.

My mum got the Islabike eJimi. Only one ride so far but she's really pleased with it. Unfortunately for dad the roles have been reversed and he's now struggling to keep up with her.
