Me too Tts! I can remember riding regularly over to Battersea Bikes to drool over a frameset that they had hanging on the wall. Wouldn't want one now mind. Never really been into the retro bike scene.

I always think that buying a Klein would be like meeting your hero. Ultimately, you'd end up dissapointed.

Not for that money either, I'd be wanting satisfaction. It's worth £500 nowadays if it's flawless. Optimistic at best.

Having ridden one of these recently with a strata fork and MC1 stem I can safely say that I am far to old to consider ever owning and riding one. They take stiff and uncomfortable to new heights! I think it may have had a 540mm handle bar too ...... 😯

One would make a lovely wall hanger though.

Even though thats a repaint (Albeit by one of the best Klein repainters) thats still a fair price IMO.

That said it needs its seat post, seat clamp and straddle wires replacing with some Ringle and the avid cog hog(?) removing then it would be much better equipped to help you slip a disc 😆

The same model sold for £1219 in November (and that didn't look flawless)

Magic.

The bearings are push fit sealed jobies and correspond with the shape of the steerer to hold it in place. Remove the stem and the fork stays in place IIRC.

BB should be push fit too 8)

The paint job would have been several hundreds so it's a steal at that price.
Klein paint jobs are crazily complex involving several layers of various different paint colours to get the proper original finish. Johnroc on Retrobike is well known for being able to reproduce the paint exactly.

Stunning IMHO. If you don't like it - don't buy it.

Was lucky enough to have a go on one when in my early teens. Compared to my Carrera - it felt fantastic. Climbed like a demon.

I own almost the exact same bike as that except mine has rock shox.

I can confirm it is a terrible bike to ride these days but does indeed look incredible in real life.

It's also for sale at a price a lot less than that one.

Must have cracked the seat tube on the eBay one. It's been shortened and has a collar on it.

The eBay Klein does have a full XTR m900 groupset on it which is worth quite a lot of money on its own.

ive never seen a photo of the horizon linea fade that does it justice. It is stunning in daylight. Still love to ride my '96 Attitude on dry sunny days. It does beat me up on anything but the smoothest trails nowadays, getting on a bit me, but on the right stuff no other bike has made me smile as much! I bought the proper headset tool a few years ago just in case but the original hs is still perfectly smooth after twenty years!

That's actually a pretty good price for one of these. It won't hang around for long (assuming there's no hidden dents or cracks).

Circa £3-350 for a Jonrock paint job when I inquired a few years ago for my '92 Fervour.
The Fervour has the same tubing as the Attitude but a 1" headtube so not quite so bone jarring. Even so & with a set of Bomber Z3s fitted after I ride the 2001 Mountain Mayhem at Sandwell Valley I had to take a few days of work because of lower back spasms, could barely walk.

Agree with the majority, it's set at a decent price for a jonrock repaint. £500? You'd get that for the groupset!

You lot are off your heid. £1500 for a bike that if we are honest, was never very good in the first place.

Granted aesthetically pleasing, but practically hopeless.

Practicality and whether it is a 'good' bike don't come into it.

It is an iconic bike, and so collectors rules apply. No one is gonna buy that as a daily ride.

It was a cracker in its day, a game changer, an iconic design and yes a little harsh on the butt - but it's still a fabulous machine.

I wanted to kill dead the nasty tosser who knicked mine from a Midland XC race BITD.

But it's ok, you've never owned nor ridden one, that's Obvz.

I had a Bontrager. 😉

I had a Bonty Privateer. It snapped. My Klein is still alive, albeit wrapped in blankets in the box room. Still, that's not bad for a 25 year old alu frame.

m900 xtr still fetches good money on its own and with retro stuff it's not about how well they ride compared to modern stuff

front hubs the wrong way round though so im out

If I was paying top money I'd want original paint. My dads Klein Rascal rides great (on the road)

Nearly bought a NOS Klein frameset a couple of years ago and I rebuilt an original Orange Clockwork, sold the Orange didn't buy the Klein got a Trek OCLV hardtail instead don't really want to do the retro thing again

That's not top money for an original Klein, it's a fair market price for a repaint.

I wouldn't buy it but someone will. If you don't get retro you don't get retro.

Well spotted, and shame really. Odd spending all that money on a respray when someone has sawed the seat tube off!

It's a common Klein issue and not seen as too much of a problem if done well. That's why original paint, non cracked frames go for more than this.

I was fortunate enough to be in the right place and right time to buy an original Adroit. I rode it to win a few races in 2003 before picking up sponsorship. The Adroit is special, I wanted one in 1990, now I have one, I rode it hard, loved it and cannot see myself parting with it. Whether the ride is good or not, to me is immaterial. Its a classic and value is in the eyes of the beholder. Its not in perfect condition, no bike ever should be if its been !over.
