[#2110146]

I am not sure if Esayjet has been covered on baggage on here, but wondered if anyone knows the rules to the letter of the law on bags and sports equipment.

I have booked a snowboard bag for a trip away, now does this mean I get 20kilo bag and 12 kilos for the snowboard bag or a nother 32 kilos on top of the 20kilo bag allowance?

Sorry if this makes no sence at all!!!!

32kg total for non bike sporting items. 32 plus 20 for bikes.

not sure.

Check the Easyjet bumf/link on the thread above, as to whether sports stuff and bikes are equivalent.

As I understand it you have up to 20kg bag allowance and up to 32kg for the bikebag/sportsbag (when you pay for the pleasure) but the whole lot can't go above 50kg.

i waqs old by the girl at the desk - some time ago, mind - that my snowboard bag should only have my snowboard in it. she said that the weeks worth of gear i'd stuffed in the bag shouldn't be there, but seeing as it was a quiet flight she'd let it go.

i've just recieved my flight info for Gran Canaria. bike is booked on as sports gear and has an allowance of 32kg on top of the standard 20kg. this is with Condor Air (spainish firm).

As i said above only bikes get the full 32 extra for the bike. See the end of section 10 of the carriers regulations for the specific note that says bikes are exempt from excess charges. It is for bikes only. You have 32kg total.

Think you'll find that the 20Kg limit still applies to your (non board bag) hold luggage. Just get an extra 12 for the board / ski bag.

I regularly go away with a boardy mate who stuffs his board bag with clothes/other stuff. Easyjet have never questioned it.

I got a lecture from easyjet at gatwick (two seasons ago) for putting clothes in my board bag as well. Really pissed me off as it was looking like she was going to insist I take them all out and I had only brought the one board bag so had no other luggage with me. It was under the weight limit - After 20min or so standoff I was let through...haven't flown with them since. No problems before or on the way back through Geneva

It's a shame they don't let you combine weight allowance with the person you're travelling with anymore.

We used to get 2xdecks, bindings, boots and some outerwear into a Dakine High Roller.

Now we each take one. More weight, more space taken in the hold, but within the rules. It's all quite silly.

I'll have to get the airline details from my brother but he royally messed up on this last winter. He came to meet us in Tignes but was over allowance by about 10-20kg or £150! He was absolutely gutted. He had completely filled his snowboard bag as well as a large suitcase. Because he was chuffed at getting it all in those bags he didn't bother with hand luggage....

The plonker had brought with him about 10 thin jackets and about 7 pairs of thin soled trainers. All very useful at -20C. Needless to say he recieved a bit of a ribbing!
