I did Ae and Kielder. I enjoyed the riding at Eastridge more, even though the stages were shorter.

Fantastic weekend, loved the stages, I'm in the process of editing my on board footage. I'll put all the stages on soon. Cheers to the organisers and see you in Afan. (no. 771) ๐Ÿ˜‰

Best round by far, weather probably helped, the only weak link was Stage 5, but that's being picky, great weekend's racing, cheers Steve.

Good to be racing at Eastridge again. It's not a massive area and I think they used it well. What do people think of taking shortcuts? Surely not in the spirit of this type of event? If everyone took them it would be like 5 mini downhills.

@chakaping, yeah thought i recognised the name. I was just two places ahead of you in Masters - likewise, hoped to do better but it's pretty consistent with my other results.

Had a crash on Stage one, and missed lines on other stages but my main areas for improvement are more fitness, bigger balls, and better brakes! I have a load of helmet cam footage from both days I'll try and get up at some point

re: other posters comments about fat sweaty blokes in a field - it was a hot day, and i'm just big boned! Seriously though - there's a lot of properly quick guys out there in all the categories - good to see the elite field step it up this weekend too

Thanks to Steve and the other organisers and sponsors, hope to see you for another series next year

Quick numpty question!

Are the stages rideabe by mere mortals, equipped with, say, a Pitch and Lyriks, or do you have to be able to jump big doubles and generally be a riding god?? i.e. How technical is it?

I fancy this next year but I don't wanna kill myself or look (an even bigger) idiot!

You'll be fine, I rode it on a 100mm hardtail and there were several others on similar bikes. By all accounts Eastridge was the steepest and most technical round so far, very aggressive tyres and dropping the seatpost got me down the ridiculously steep and loose bottom of stage 1. The other stages were typical black/red trail centre routes. Atmosphere was great, speaker system pumping out the music all day, friendly nods from everybody involved, it will become a permanent date on my calendar now!

I thought parts of Inners and Ae were more technical and as steep, Inners stage 4 was far trickier for me than anything this weekend. You'd manage all the courses on any XC bike, just maybe not so fast

Had a brief chat with one of the organisers (Can't remember his name) and he was saying that the idea was to keep Enduro racing generally as a mostly 'wheels on the ground' type thing, rather than moving the the more downhill end of the spectrum - sort of promoting a form of competition for everyday MTBers, rather than DH mentalists or XC whippets. It's brilliant fun - give one a go!

Whoever you spoke too has got it spot on. I ride DH for my team and one of the whippets from the XC side of the team was racing this weekend too and we were only 2 seconds apart overall, (thankfully in favour of me ๐Ÿ˜† )

Do it.

You won't be in the way. You do a seeding run on the Saturday so that you start the stages on sunday in a certain order based on your speed. In theory the guy in front is slightly slower than you, the guy behind is slightly quicker but not so much that he will catch you over the stage. Seemed to work quite well at Eastridge. Not sure if more catching will go on over longer stages.

Larry, no. That's the purpose of the seeding run on the Saturday, to keep us more er..stately descenders from getting under the wheels of the properly fast boys. Get entered, you'll love it.

chakaping - I was the one in front of you riding the Giant Anthem.
Foxyrider - one of the funniest moments had to be of you riding up towards us after stage 3 when you were covered in dust like you had had a really dodgy fake tan from your faceplant! So unlucky to have had 2 punctures too.
Still a great fun weekend though - knee a bit sore after coming off on stage 1, luckily not infront of Bob Campbell and his video camera although I am on that video at 3m 34secs.

Yeah I'm on the Campbell video as well - Fame!

I hope you don't mind the blatent plugging but if anyone is interested I have written an article on it (well mostly my poor performance ๐Ÿ˜‰ ) with a quick interview with Steve Parr and the FC about Eastridge ๐Ÿ™‚

Hello MrE, nice to chat to you. Looks like all us STW users were in the back portion of the field for some reason.

So who was the best placed STWer then? Definitely not me (108th overall ๐Ÿ™ )

54th Overall here (in the open category). I'm sure there'll be someone quicker though.

Good effort FBK - I got 55th.... in Masters ๐Ÿ™‚

Uploaded my helmet cam footage of all 5 stages... probably not particularly exciting, or interesting unless you rode it, or are especially keen to see what the trails were like, but I've included it all for sake of completeness.
