I'm keen to get some forks for my Evil that are relatively easily adjusted between 120&140mm. I don't necessarily need on the trail adjustment but would like something easier than swapping out the air shaft as I would need to do on my current Fox's.
MRP look pretty straightforward, any other suggestions?
What's the objective?ย Having had loads of travel adjust forks over the years I'd not bother again.ย They're rarely as good as the fixed travel versions and bike don't really work at different travel settings - a 20mm difference at the fork makes a significant differenceย to the BB height.
I used to use them drop travel for steep climbs but as BB's have got lower the 'dropped' height would now be too low and a steep seat angle and good technique means no need to drop.
some rs forks have step adjust i think it's called? turn the lever, compress the fork and it stays down, flick teh lever the other way, compress again and it comes out. easy, can be done as you ride.
Manitou Mattocsย are fairly straightforward - there are spacers to adjust the travel. Still require you to drop the lowers though which is annoying.
The RockShox travel adjust is now called Dual Position which reduces travel by 30 mm, I believe, but I haven't tried it. I have several older Rebas, Revelations, and Psylos with the U-Turn adjustment, which let you wind the travel down for climbs. Asย simons_nicolai-uk points out, the travel adjustment affects the performance, so you have to set them up for a specific travel and compromise on the others. With U-Turn, I just set them up on full travel and only drop them for long climbs. It does help quite a lot for long climbs, but I don't really see it as a must-have feature.
I had 2016 Fox 36 Talas (120-160mm) on my Yeti and they actually felt more plush than the non-Talas ones I have now (at least until I did some mods). I put it down to Talas ones having a coil negative spring and me being fairly light meant they were actually a bit over sprung on the negative side (like all the new EVOL stuff does, basically). Either way, they were great and helped me get a more comfortable climbing position on extended climbs.
