I have an E13 LG1 kicking about that was on a previous bike, been wondering about fitting it to my cotter bike... The current bike in question is a lightweight Ti hardtail running 1x10 with a Supersaturated XCR on at the moment though.
Now the issue I have with the XCR is it's not very good at keeping the chain on. The backplate is flexy and allows the chain to occasionally get jammed between the chainring and the device. On one instance alone this cost me 5 minutes the other weekend at SITS! It's infuriating...
Now I'm wondering, before I spend any money, is it worth spending say £20 on an ISCG05 to BB mount adapter (the LG1 is ISCG05, my frame has no mounts) so I can fit the LG1? Or will I, on a lightweight XC bike, really notice the extra drag from an LG1? Anybody ever actually measured how much drag full chain devices cause compared to a top only device like the XCR?
Now before anybody says "just fit it" I'd have to spend money on the adapter (anyone got one kicking about I could borrow?), so would I just be better off selling both devices and getting something altogether better or more suitable? And if so what?
