what would you put on the back never done the dyfi before normally run a 16t for Cannock , what should I put on a 17t or a 18t
A small engine would be a better option (in my case)
lol
isn't cannock very flat?
er its flat compared to some places, but depends where abouts you go etc
if you know where the climbs are
I'm not 100% sure what to ride at the Dyfi yet, IF I take the SS I'll be running 36:19 and thats on a 650B so equates to around 2:1.
I'd be taking 2:1 just to be on the safe side.
Not that I'm going. But if I was, like.
2:1 is the law isn't it?
27 gears has it covered for me 22:32 --> 44:11. This seems to have worked well for me in the past.
I did it on 32:16 a few years ago and it was almost all rideable... the only section that I couldn't ride was a steepish bedrock climb that was rather wet and slippy... but then loads of riders with gears needed to get off and push up that bit as well!
The one thing I would have changed on the bike was the 80mm Pace forks which were way too noodley for the Dyfi...
I rode it 32:18 a couple of years ago and it was a bit spinny, but I did have a massive hangover from over doing it on arrival the night before, and was therefore glad of that gearing. I'd go 32:17 and drink less if I was doing it this year.
looking more like a 17t then ๐

Blasphemy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Rich i think i saw you a couple weeks back at BV cafe. i think you had a tag a long on your blue bike.
was that you ?
Not done it before but I'm going 32:18!
Alex only use a Simple(black) for trailer pulling duties these days!
erm thats my black simple Rich not yours!!! * Mrs postierich sneaks on while he is not looking*
one of you had a blue bike, n one of you was wearing the chase trails top ๐
always been 32:16 when I've done it on SS, no point in a bigger rear sprocket, the Dyfi is all about the descents, just man up on the climbs, or accept life and push
You're thinking of doing the Dyfi on a singlespeed?
I've heard that's never been done before and if you attemp it you'll almost certainly die.
if any of you see me I'll be a young lad on a genesis IO
