wanna spend the night in my van somewhere close to Corris so i can have an early ride round dyfi the next morning before i meet some other people in Machyllenth. its in a few weeks, end of Jan.

any recco for somewhere safe to park up for the night? id prefer to pay for a tent pitch and use the facilities of a campsite but the local ones appear to be closed...? maybe a decent pub with a carpark or something?

Cheers

If I recall correctly there's a caravan park in Corris, a short stroll from the Braich Goch hostelry and Slaters' Arms. Right at the bottom of the Climbachx too.

Otherwise Braich Goch has parking opposite and secure bike storage – you could always speak to them. The owners a few years back were great, but I suspect it's changed hands since.

Its pretty easy to find a quiet spot around there if you are happy to wild camp. Somewhere around the trail head for the ClimachX would probably be fine and you can ride straight from there. For proper camping there are a couple of little campsites along the B4405 just north of Corris. Not sure if any will be open in Jan, though. Final thought, maybe something at CAT. They have people staying over for courses and I'm sure a few people there are van types. If you do wild camp there is a sports centre in town with showers
