Woke up this morning to find a bike dumped on the front garden. I've reported it to the police including make, model and serial number.
If you've had a bike stolen in the Lancaster area get in touch with them and hopefully it can be reunited with it's owner.
Well done, hopefully undamaged and the rightful owner gets it back.
If not, first dibs on the brakes please ... ๐
Unless social media come up trumps it will be yours in a month. When I found a carbon road bike and took it to the Police the clerk laboriously filled in a form in a big ledger, took a ruler and tore off a part as my receipt and I realised that that was never going to be matched up with any report of a bike being stolen. That was how I started road cycling.
It's not a bike I would want, but it looks well looked after and somebody might be missing it this morning.
Just be a bit wary, a number of year's ago I found some pretty shagged out Speccy Rockhopper in our back yard. Reported to plod, who told me to hang onto it and an officer would pop round for details at some point. That night whilst I was working nights presumably the same robbing subhuman scum did over our garage, taking the dumped bike, kids bikes, tools and power tools etc before the wife disturbed them.
I had the same thought. I've moved the good stuff to somewhere else.
What benefit does the extra step of dumping a bike in someone's garden give thieves?ย I can't see one, but am sometimes surprised by the misplaced ingenuity of thieves.
Means they aren't caught red handed and makes the "I got it off a guy in the pub yesterday" excuse slightly more plausible.
