An annoying tick-tick-tick noise has, i think been tracked back to the BB area - have found about 1mm off play side to side in the axle when i pull on the crank arms - so,

Q1- am i right in thinking this is simply tightened by pinching up the central hex bolt visible in the shot below (tis just a ruddy great hole in the axle on the other side...) and that this will be a std right hand thread?

Q2 - what tool(s) are needed to effect a strip down ?

Q3 - if i strip it and fined '****edness' (of the BB) what type is it.....?
Q3b - and what would be the best cash -v- reliability one to buy if needed?

Chris,
Answers to your questions below. To the best of my knowledge.

Q1 - Yes the central HEX bolt. Usually 8mm will tighten the none drive side onto the central axle, therefore tightening the whole lot up.

Q2 - To strip down, bontrager use a self extracting bolt, so you just undo that central 8mm HEX bolt and it will pull itself off. Once off, you can just pull the drive side back through the bottom bracket. (might need to tap it from the none drive side with a rubber mallet to loosen it up). If you want to take the bottom bracket out, they use the same tool as a shimano external bottom bracket (bout £10).

Q3 - Somebody may have to correct me here, but i think Brontager use Giga X Pipe bottom brackets (which i think are the same as Truvativ GXP) ???

Q4 - Something like THIS should do the job.

Hope i helped

Josh...

Cheers Josh that is what I call comprehensive!!
guess that tiny bit of text between the red 'B' and the hex bolts, which says 'giga pipe' should have given me a clue...
