Hi all,

I've had my Voodoo Bizango for a year now but only really just started getting into more technical routes.

As you do, you start looking around, watching YouTube videos and before you know it you find you need to buy things. One of the main things is a dropper seatpost.

I've been looking around and think I'm on the right track. I know I need a 31.6mm post and I probably don't want stealth as the bike has no routing without drilling.

Has anyone fitted a dropper to this bike?

My main worry and this is the bit I really need help with, is the frame is kinked so the current post doesn't go all the way down. If I get a dropper, would I realistically see the seat go any lower? I find the seat is still somewhat in the way on descents. I'm 6ft7 so I do have to have my seat a fair way up, but not fully extended.

There's a range of posts both in terms of range of movement and length of body - given your height longer the better I guess.

There are guides you can find online that help you measure up what's best for you, but this could be one of those times wandering into a bike shop for advise is worth paying a bit more than CRC charge. Especially as non Stealth routing can be a creative and shortening the hose can't be tricky.

Dropper posts don't tend to go very far into the frame so the bend shouldn't be an issue. They telescope into themselves so you'll be able to go much lower than you can now. You can do some simple maths to work at the max and mins although if you are tall it normally isn't an issue. Shorter people tend to be nearer the limits. Finally non stealth will be easier but no need to discount stealth if you find a good deal on one, easy to drill a hole (and it'll be in a low stress area)

Thanks for the replies guys. I was actually thinking just due to the cost (especially compared to the bike) to get a second hand dropper.

The main ones are Reverbs but hydraulic puts me off a little...

the hydraulic element is just the remote, other than that they all work in a similar way.

I ran an X Fusion for years as I was limited to a 27.2 it wasn't as plush in action as my Reverb, but the cable release was a lot better than the reverb - it's not something you need a plush action, a simple on/off will do.

Yes, as pointed out above. For example, my wife's new bike came with a 390mm seatpost, which is on the short side but not unusual for a 16" frame. At its lowest it still left the best part of 150mm post exposed. After putting a 125mm drop 390mm long Reverb in, the entire Reverb lower goes in so she can get the seat right down low, to whatever the Reverb collar is above the clamp (about 30mm or so).
