Dropper post lever for dropped handlebars?

Looking for anyone's experience with these please.

I'm building up a Mason ISO. It is definitely going to have a dropper post (31.6mm with 120-125mm drop) but I'm unsure of which dropper lever to use.

I could go down the wireless AXS route (I'm using Rival AXS shifters) although I don't much fancy the cost, lack of saddlepack options, and I don't much fancy the double lever press method of operating. So I'm probably looking at a Oneup dropper with  some type of handlebar mounted lever. But which one?! Some seem to mount up by the stem, others seem to be a two-way job that mounts by the shifter.

Thoughts please 🙂

if you're on 1x, then the left brifter? that's how it is on my NP Digger

The wireless reverb really is good, and I don't think it prevents you using a saddle pack, just need a bit more slack on the strap to clear the battery. German sites often have OEM deals, I got my post for ~200 Euro (with battery, no charger)

I use the Crank Bros drop bar lever which works from the hoods or the drops, sitting under the LH brake lever and I love it.

Have nothing bad to say about the Shimano Pro drop handlebar dropper lever ive got, only pain is having to remove the bar tape to fit it

Works both ways so can be operated from the hoods or the drops

GRX and get the dedicated LH brake/dropper lever. Push the brake lever sideways (as if you were front shifting) to activate the dropper. (I think SRAM were doing one too?)

I've tried the levers that sit inside the hook of the drop and they're sub-optimal. Uncomfortable in the drops, awkward to use from the hoods. Better than no dropper at all, mind

I removed the ratchet from a s/h LH 105 hydro shifter. Bit of playing and understanding, bit of careful hacksawing got me a dropper lever.

The images in This Radavist article are good for visualising what you might want from a drop-bar dropper lever (assuming you don't opt for a flappy brake lever instead).

Or if you're feeling flush there's this Wolf Tooth barend solution.

Shimano GRX RX810-LA - hydraulic, 1x lever - works flawlessly with the 150mm Brand X Ascend on my Cascade.

One of the reasons I finally bought a gravel bike was that it had the GRX dropper lever. So much more usable than the other options.

Thanks for the replies.

I've already got the AXS levers, so using the left hand brifter as a dropper lever is a no go.

I’ve got the Brand X lever next to the stem and a PNW externally routed dropper.
Makes it a 2 minute job to swap out the seat post for a rigid one to hold a saddle bag.
Works for me.
