How much clearance do you think is necessary between the fork crown/adjusters and the downtube?

Theres currently about 1mm of clearance between the crown of my 66's and the downtube of my Dialled Alpine.

My headset is an FSA orbit MXII with a 13.4mm lower stack.

Should I get an Orbit XL2 which will give me an extra 1.6mm of clearance or would it be worth getting one of those +5mm headsets?

I appreciate that the crown clears at the moment but in a crash the frame may flex and cause it to hit

1mm's fine. If that part of your frame flexs by 1mm, then you're probably in a situation that presents you with bigger issues than fork crown/frame clearance!

The thing about a near miss, is that it's still a miss. You'll be fine. Do you still get suitable clearance once you start playing with the adjusters?
