Taking a road trip around italy for 4 weeks this summer and will be visiting the Dolomites/Italian Alps.
Does anyone have any hints where I could ride (need to be able to hire a decent bike too, as I'm only taking the road bike for lack of space in the car!)
Thanks!

Selva in val Gardena has lots of XC routes and several bike hire shops
There's a summer DH route above Canazei near Passo Pordoi
Most open lifts are capable of taking bikes. You can get a day ticket to ride the whole area and scare the walkers/climbers
We were there last week and it seems that they've decided to embrace MTB this year in a big way.
