[#12762081]

So back last summer I was struggling with a sore lower back and decided to replace my Cannondale caad12 disc frame with something less stretched / taller at the front and that could take proper bolt on mudguards and a rack. Had to be frame only and take my existing gears / handlebars / wheels etc.

Concluded the Dolan GXC would hit the spot - but built for road rather than gravel. Hoping to get a chunk of cash back selling my caad12 disc with the Cannondale cranks / spiderings and seatpost / stem / bb / headset / front post mount brake caliper.

Frame has arrived - pictures below - but I want to 3M tape a few high wear areas before I start the build which I think is going to be fiddly.

Build kit is:

Mason x Hunt 4seasons road wheels
Conti gp5000 clinchers in 30c
Ultegra di2 with internal battery
Cannondale handlebars
Ultegra 50/34 cranks
Use alien carbon seatpost
Hope RX4+ flat mount calipers
Fabric Scoop Elite saddle
Deda 90mm stem and bottle cages

I’m hoping it should come out relatively light - maybe between 8-8.5kgs but we’ll see.

Yeah I’m really pleased with the look of the paint on it - apparently most people pick black!

Put a few bits on just for a look see. Got a good chunk to cut off the steerer even if I run loads of spacers under it to start with to play around with bar height (noting my bad back).

USE carbon seatpost is exceptionally shiny - bargain £20 in the USE outlet store just before Xmas.

Realised I haven’t got the right size battery holder to fit inside the seat post or a new b screw plate for the front mech so need to get those ordered before starting the build.

Also had a go at poking the new brake hose through the frame and going from back to front it won’t go through at all. Going front to back it all fits through fine (no internal routing pipes in this frame clearly) but it’s going to take some fishing out of the chainstay doing it that way round.
