Anyone know of a good (cheap) way of getting one added to an old steel frame?
In easy reach of Sheffield for someone without a car...
I've tried contacting Wilsons but never get them to pick up the phone. Edison's at Clowne are difficult to get to and never answer either.
Any mounts I can buy and fit myself with a mig welder? Doesn't need to be pretty.

I ran a cable disk on my good bike for a while, with a V brake on the back ?
Meant I could keep same levers.

Edit: I wouldn't really bother myself .. I have the same deal. I just brought a disc specific fork, and ran some super nice V's on the rear.
My other half is about to inherit my old Pro2s with Crests so need a disc at the back! It's an old steel Marin but the geometry is spot on. We're short of dosh and have to make do with an old hardtail instead of a lovely full suss. If the rear conversion exceeds £65 then we might as well get a cheap Handsome Dog from AllTerrain.

Did one my self on an old gt frame for mrs daznal.I cut an old knackered frame up,fitted the old disc adapter to the brake caliper,put the back wheel with brake disk on on to the frame,clamped the caliper onto the disk(using the brake lever),this assured alignment then welded the bit off of the knackered frame to the seat stay of the gt.Easy
Go down to your local dumpit there are thousands of old frames there.

Even if you haven't got a trek, as they have bolt holes to attach to the frame you should be able to weld a flat tab on and drill the holes to fit.

Can either post frame (and disc brake) to them or they are a short taxi ride from the station
I've been using an a2z universal adaptor on an old Kona for about two years with no problems. They are about £20 or so and would save welding?

On most steel frames the dropouts are usually too small to accept the A2Z adapter. Shame because they work very well.
