Hi All
OK, I'm new to disc brakes.
I blead them a few weeks age, took pads out and wheels etc as instructed too but ever since I blead the brakes they dont seem to stop as before, eg starp.
Have I done something wrong, should I clean the disc itself, if so what should I use, but bear in mind I dont have disc brake cleaner.
So help me bring my brakes back to like.
cheers
there are a couple of possibilities here. Does the lever feel spongy ? If so there is probably air in the system and you haven't bled them properly - time to have another go.
does the lever feel good with a relatively solid feel when you pull the brake? If so the problem might be a contaminated disc. You need to clean the disc, you might just get away with a totally clean rag and then getting your brake nice and hot, but more likely you will need some disc brake cleaner or some alcohol.
worst case is that the pads are contaminated now as well, sometimes this improves with use but they might need changing.
What brakes? Is it just the 'feel' that's different or do you have to pull more on the lever before they work?
I will try a re-bleed and see how that goes.
Why did you bleed them in the first place?
the levers were touching the bars
