Any good? ive read mixed reviews, some say resistance changes come on really harshly.
whats the 'feel' of it like?
Im coming from a wheel on cheap trainer so im sure it'll be better than that!
cheers
I've only had my direto X for a couple of weeks but all the reviews say it's very good, and the resistance change with inclines in zwift feels exactly as it should, as far as I know... 😁
I have the XR. It's absolutely perfect and haven't noticed any issues with resistance changes coming in suddenly on Zwift
It's not an answer to your question, but CRC has the slightly less powerful Direto X at £499, almost £300 less than they're selling the Direto XR.
It seems a good deal and is rather less than I paid for my plain Direto last year.
I used a Direto X all last autumn and winter. It worked well, no issues. I've not used any other trainer though so maybe it's rubbish and I don't realise it.
I bought a Direto when it was on offer from Wiggle for £500 earlier this year.
This was coming from a Flow-Smart wheel on trainer.
The Direto is night & day in terms of performance.
I would recommend it. It made such a difference to the feel of riding on the turbo trainer, which I always put down to 'probably bollocks that doesn't really make much difference.
Depending on your needs, I would have thought that the Direto X from CRC would be perfectly good & a decent way to save some money over the XR.
There was a bit of a learning curve to the Direto when doing workouts - the power ramps differently when changing levels, and so you just need to get used to it. This doesn't really apply if just freeriding/racing in Zwift.
One of the biggest advantages is the extra resistance possible. Even with the FLow Smart set to 50%, I think it must have been maxxing out on resistance changes quite often, because a lot of the rides feel completely different now the trainer can cope with all of the gradients on the routes.
The DC rainmaker review of the Direto X said it didnt handle tracking the power output on intervals, do any of the owners on this thread have that issue? I've been weighing up the Suito T which is now more expensive then the Direto X is from CRC.
