is the slx worth 40 quid more at 89.99, any idea of teh weight deifference and is there a raceface chainset that competes at the same price point

Shimano every time over RaceFace.Raceface bearings are made out of putty,and the assembly and diassembly is more time consuming than Shimano.
There isn't a raceface crank that competes at any pricepoint Shimano have a crank in really, IMO. Raceface BBs have apparently got better but the one I had was just appalling, lucky you can use Shimano ones with their cranks really 😉
You won't regret any out of Deore and SLX, and the Raceface ones will do the job too but you'll get more for your money from Shimano. Can't advise which to get though, will just depend on your budget but I'm very happy with my SLX. Looks good, works flawlessly.
